Since the 60’s gig posters have been treated almost as an art form in their own right. Each new tour or series of gigs was an opportunity to connect in a fresh and interesting way with the fans; a chance to experiment and collaborate with designers and artists and a way to explore how the music should, or could, be represented visually. For the fans the gig poster became another collectible to obsess over, argue about and put on proud display.
The posters on the link below are from an exhibition that ran in Cincinnati recently. Not only do they feature some incredible bands and performers who appear on some play lists here at Impact, they show a really varied and brave approach that we love.
