Font Marathon

Fonts are a key element of any graphic design project with the choice of typeface having a huge effect on the tone and appearance of the artwork. There are a huge number of fonts in use, but you will all be very familiar with some of the classics such as Helvetica or Futura as you come into contact with them on a daily basis.

Designing a typeface is a very specialised skill that demands a huge commitment of time, patience and creativity. It can take months, or even years, to develop a new typeface family. Monotype are a global typeface agency and two of their designers in New York set themselves the challenge to develop 2 new fonts in 72 hours. The article on the link below offers a great insight into the design process with the final result being two very unique fonts.

While we are not typeface designers here at Impact, we certainly understand the difference between Garamond and Comic Sans. All our designers are well versed in a huge number of fonts and understand how different fonts can complement your brand and improve the quality of your marketing message.
